François Boucher
1703 – 1770
François Boucher was the quintessential Rococo painter, favourite of Madame de Pompadour and the court of Louis XV. His pastoral idylls and mythological scenes, all soft colour and playful sensuality, epitomised the elegance of 18th-century France.
